Look, I ain’t gonna front, staying positive ain’t always easy. Especially when you’re juggling a whole lot. School, the studio, trying to build something real online… it's a weight. There's a constant pressure, a low-hum anxiety that creeps in, telling you you're not doing enough, you're behind. I used to let it consume me. Used to let it dictate my mood, my motivation, everything.

It started small, that negativity. Just little doubts whispering in my ear. "This beat ain't gonna go nowhere." "Nobody’s checking for these fits." "You're just wasting your time." Then it grew, amplified by the comparison game. Seeing other creators blow up, seemingly overnight, and feeling like I was stuck in the mud. I was letting their success define my worth.

Then I realized something. The stuff I was saying to myself, the narratives I was building in my head… they weren't real. They were stories I was *choosing* to believe. It's wild, man. The power of language, how it shapes our reality. Like, I can say “I failed” or I can say “I learned.” Same experience, totally different impact. The first one drags you down, the second pushes you forward.

I started experimenting. Small stuff, at first. Instead of thinking, “This fit looks whack,” I’d try to find something I liked about it. “Okay, the shoes are fire. The color blocking is interesting.” It’s not about lying to yourself, it's about shifting your focus. Finding the good, even when it's buried under a pile of doubt. It’s about recognizing that perspective is everything.

The beats were a different beast entirely. I’d get so caught up in chasing a sound, a trend, that I'd lose sight of why I started making music in the first place. The joy of it. The feeling of creating something from nothing. August happened, though. I made this beat – real soulful, layered, something *me*. When I listened back, it wasn't about the likes or the streams. It was about the feeling it gave *me*. That’s when the shift truly began.

It’s not like the negativity disappeared overnight. It still creeps in. There are days where I feel overwhelmed, where I question everything. But now I have tools. I can recognize the negative thoughts for what they are: just thoughts. And I can actively challenge them. Reframing, they call it. Like, okay, I didn't get the response I wanted on that post. What can I learn from it? What can I do differently next time?

It’s a process. A constant recalibration. Like adjusting the levels on a mix – subtle shifts that make a huge difference in the final product. I’m not trying to be perfect, just present. Grateful for the opportunity to create, to learn, to grow. And that gratitude, that simple shift in mindset, has been more powerful than any affirmation or pep talk.

I'm still under a thousand followers. Still grinding in this bedroom studio. But I’m feeling something different now. A quiet confidence. A sense of purpose that isn't tied to external validation. That beat I made in August? It wasn't just a beat. It was a signal. A reminder that I'm on the right path, even when it feels like I'm walking in the dark. And that’s enough. That’s more than enough.
